Celebrating 30 years of Volunteer Magic
in the lives of Wood County's abused and neglected children
On April 5, 2018 at the Holiday Inn French Quarter in Perrysburg Ohio, 75 people joined together to enjoy an evening of celebration and appreciation for the work of the Wood County CASA/GAL Program's volunteers of Friends of Wood County CASA, Citizen Review Board and CASA/GAL Volunteer advocates.

Joining us in the evenings "Celebrating 30 years of Volunteer Magic in the lives of Wood County's abused and neglected children" were Judge David E Woessner, Magistrate Craig Campbell, Retired Judge Robert Pollex and his wife, County Commissioners Doris Herringshaw, Theodore Bowlus and Craig LaHote, and Executive Director of the Ohio CASA Association Doug Stephens.   A proclamation was given to the program by the county commissioners in recognition of the years of service to the community.

A magic show was provided as entertainment by Glass City Magic Magician and his two students.   The Oath of office of 4 new CASA/GAL Volunteers took place  and a presentation was made to a youth, Gavin Fox, who has volunteered his time to assist with the role play activity in pre-service for four years, helping new advocates become comfortable in explaining their role to a child and interviewing a child. Gavin assisted the program in training 35 volunteers.

A special and very touching presentation by Julia M., ended the evening.  Julia had received advocacy services as a child from CASA/GAL Joyce Osterud.  Her presentation should to all present, the impact that a volunteer has on the lives of children.
